Bonsai Techniques I by John Naka
Having access to or owning a lot of books on bonsai is one of the key parts of education into this wonderful hobby. Just like when you learn a new language hearing other people speak it is one of the most important keys to success. It is the same with bonsai. The more time you spend looking at bonsai trees and reading about techniques the better you will become at developing your own eye for bonsai style.
Although it is now becoming rarer and has risen in price I still recommend that the first book you buy is John Naka’s Bonsai Techniques I. This book will tell you everything you need to learn the technical aspects of bonsai. You will still need to do research on specific trees and locational research.
